Need a place to eat in Espana

My girlfriend and I are going to Spain in a month. We will be in Madrid, Zaragoza (to visit family), then in Barcelona. Anyone know of any great places to eat?

In Madrid, I enjoyed a fantastic meal at Viridiana. Juan de Mena 14 Madrid 34-91 -523-4478. Excellent food and fantastic wine selection in a quaint, two level restaurant with a homey yet sophisticated feel.

Another amazing place was Horcher, which serves top notch "continental" food. Very formal and quite expensive, but worth it. Alfonso XII 6 Madrid 34-91 -522-0731

A final favorite was the Jockey Club. Another expensive choice, but really amazing food. Amador de los RĂos 6 Madrid 34-91 -319-2435

It may be too late for Bob, but for others here who are Spain-bound...

I've not yet had the pleasure to indulge, but I understand that El Bulli is quite the dining highlight-of-a-lifetime - quite avant-garde, as I hear tell. (And not far from Barcelona or Girona?) Here's their URL:

    Bien provecho a todos!

er.... well, it's not near, either. Quite a trip - I suppose you would have to rent a car and drive there

Food is extremely imaginative - Ferran Adria', the owner / chef is nowadays largely considered the best chef in the world (of course, those "best of" acclamation often have little to do with reality and are widely controversial)

Food is, how should I say, experimental. I personally do not appreciate that kind of food - for the kind of money I'd spend there, I can get 3 or 4 very, very nice dinners elsewhere. Yes , it is expensive.

Oh, yeah, just drop in at El Bulli. Folks, Adria's temple of food is only open six months out of the year, and the first day that they open their phone lines they get at LEAST twice as many requests for tables as they have available for the entire year. It's quite possibly the toughest reservation on the planet. Good luck. Oh, and check the michelin guide, you know?
